Principal's Message

 McDowell students and families:

Sharing each day with your child as they learn and grow brings me personal joy, and I am humbled to have a glimpse into just a few years of their life as we lead and learn alongside one another and press forward together.

At McDowell Elementary School, we have high expectations for all students in their personal character development and success as a learner.  This includes cultivating their potential, passions, and purpose as individuals and ensuring that each student has the opportunity to thrive in life.

We expect our students to show leadership in everything they do through our schoolwide mantra, iChoose to LEAD:

Live Safely by thinking about our choices before we act on them.

Encourage Others to be their best by being a positive leader who exemplifies kindness, teamwork, and service.

Act Responsibly in knowing that our choices have a ripple effect on the lives of others.

Display Respect by treating every person as we wish to be treated and meeting disagreement with conversation and an attitude of understanding.

We believe that all students can achieve at high levels, and that we are responsible for nurturing thinkers and doers into the leaders of tomorrow.  This includes, at minimum, their proficiency in reading by the conclusion of 3rd grade, and student proficiency in math by the conclusion of 4th grade.

Our teachers work in collaborative teams to plan for and maximize each student’s learning and growth.  Partnering with parents, caregivers, and the community provides the wraparound approach to serve students in every way possible, while providing hope for their success and future.

It is our delight to serve the McDowell Elementary School students, families, and community, and I am happy to assist you in any way!
